TikTok has been in the news a lot this year. From spurring global video trends to TikTok for business to getting called out by the executive branch, there’s no doubt that you’ve seen a headline or two about this social media platform. So for as much as TikTok has gotten attention, what might you have missed?
In July, TikTok launched its self-serve ads manager and pledged to donate up to $100 million in ad credits to small and medium-sized businesses (SMB). Eligible SMBs can apply for a one-time $300 ad credit and TikTok has promised to match any additional spending dollar-for-dollar up to $2000 through the end of 2020. That’s kind of a big deal for SMBs and TikTok as they lobby for ad spend dollars dominated by Facebook.

Have you dabbled with TikTok for organic traffic, or are you curious about reaching new audiences with paid social media? Now might be the time to give it a try with a low-cost risk.
To be eligible for TikTok’s ad credit, your SMB should fit these criteria:
- Be able to provide proper documentation such as business ID, name of business, phone number, and company representative.
- Gain approval via the account review process.
- Pass the business verification process to get verified status.
- Attach a valid credit card.
- Don’t engage in shady practices and stay compliant with TikTok advertising standards.
SMBs not already verified by TikTok should expect the process to take about 1-3 business days. For more detailed information about the TikTok ad credit, check out TikTok’s Back to Business FAQs.
