4 Simple But Important Lessons for Small Business Marketing

Last Updated April 26, 2021

This post is for all you bright light bulbs out there who sometimes need a little extra light shed on marketing concepts.

You’re on this page because, like us, you want to know how you can improve your marketing game. You’re here, so we already know you’re smart 😉. But maybe you just want to give all the jargon and lingo a break for a bit and soak in some nice, simple knowledge.

If you’ve seen the movie Ratatouille, you’ll remember the motto of fictional chef and restaurateur, Gusteau: “Anyone can cook.”

Well, this is how we feel about digital marketing. Anyone can do it, and they can do it well. It’s about learning how to make informed decisions and creating results-driven strategies. But as with most things, this is easier said than done.

We wanted to try out a new way of reaching you good people. How about approaching big concepts in relatable ways? When I don’t understand something, I’ll often ask someone to “explain it to me like I’m 5.” That lets them know that I want to understand, but something isn’t clicking because of the jargon being used or the delivery style.

When someone can explain a concept without making you feel like you’re 5, that can make all the difference. Here are some common big picture questions we translated into fun-to-read picture books for a smartypants like you.
